MSI Services

What We Do... And Don’t Do

We don’t fly the airplanes...

We help pilots fly them safer.

We don’t protect the missionaries from trouble...
We train them to avoid trouble in the first place.

We don’t give aviation programs a Flight Operations Manual...

We give them the tools to make one to fit their own specific needs.

We don’t fix airplanes...
We show mechanics how to do their job safely.
MSI’s goal is to help keep mission aviators out of tomorrow’s nasty headlines. Disaster can strike in any number of ways when pilots operate into challenging airstrips in the middle of inhospitable countries. Runway mishaps, refueling snafus, armed robbery, and poor decision-making are just a few of the multitude of ways that an effective aviation operation can be put out of effective operation. But there’s hope—and help—coming from the folks at MSI:
Safety and Security Surveys (audits) are one of the most important services MSI provides. A team of qualified personnel is sent on location and may spend up to two weeks conducting observations and interviews, and participating in the flight activities of a mission. The report generated by the MSI team identifies the things that the organization is already doing well, but also highlights areas that need improvement and then supplies recommendations on how to make effective changes.
Safety Seminars provide a wonderful educational opportunity for organizations to focus on matters of safety in aircraft operations and security for their personnel and facilities. Such seminars enable staff to take a break from their normal routines and to focus on matters that can make critical differences in the safety of their programs. Experts from the greater aviation and security world lead participants through sessions that deal with all aspects of aviation safety and security. Government and Commercial Aviation services are often invited by the host mission group to attend and participate in MSI Safety Seminars and services.

Another MSI service is providing qualified personnel for helping with on-site Accident Investigations. MSI Staff and Volunteers are on-call anytime, anywhere. Follow-up reports provide not only accident analysis but also accident prevention recommendations.

On-going consulting services are provided to those organizations who desire continuing third party exposure to safety, efficiency and security issues related to their mission. New technologies, techniques and products are constantly evaluated to gauge their usefulness in the mission aviation world.
Newsletters, accident summaries, and other educational materials relating to safety concerns as found in mission operating environments are published on a periodic basis. MSI maintains a Members Only on-line knowledgebase with a wealth of information in a protected site.
Who We Are...
Mission Safety International is a dedicated group of professionals—pilots, businessmen, educators, and supporters...
...who are deeply concerned over missionary aviation losses...
...and are committed to assisting missions in matters of safety and security.
As an independent third party, Mission Safety International is able to provide critical educational and consulting services to missions and related agencies so that they can do their job effectively and efficiently. MSI's deepest desire is to see improvement in mission aviation operational safety so that every dollar and every effort committed to a ministry goes into effective outreach instead of accident recovery.
